Anyone with access to Cass and Cedar Co Missouri records of the 1800s
Hi,
I am looking for records about Nancy J. Hendren (alt misspellings Hendrin/Hendrix/Hendricks etc) who married George William Johnston (alt misspelling Johnson) about Sept 1857 in Missouri.
I have Nancy J. Hendren's birth date as Sept 12, 1839 in Aurora, Lawrence, Missouri and that her parents were born in Kentucky, but I don't know if that is correct.
I have George William Johnston's birth date as Mar 7, 1823 in Hopkinville, KY and his parents were James Johnston and Elizabeth Poage (both born in Virginia).
I am looking for the marriage records (probably Cass Co., MO) for Nancy J. Hendren and George William Johnston (she is his 2nd wife, so any info about his first wife (Sarah Knight) and kids would also be useful).
I am looking for the parents and siblings of Nancy J. Hendren and her death records as Nancy J. Johnston in Missouri.
George William Johnston died in California Jan 12, 1906 Los Angeles, CA.Since their daughter Nettie Johnston (married to Urban E. Phipps) moved with her family to California around that time, I wondered if George William Johnston moved with them if his wife was dead by then (but I don't know her death date), or if he went out to California for another reason?I can't seem to find either Nancy J. or George W. Johnston in the 1900 Census, so I don't know if Nancy is dead and George might be living with one of his children, or something like that.Nettie and Urban Phipps are still in Cedar, MO for the 1900 census.
I don't have access to the Cedar County, Missouri, Cemetery Records or any other death records, and I cannot view the 1860 or 1880 census images.
One other curious thing in the 1850 Census for Cass Co., MO... there is a Nancy J. Hendrin (Hendrix) living with 4 other siblings with Alexander Barnett's family. She is the right age, with the right birth place, and in Cass County where she also appears in the 1860 Census married to Geo W. Johnston. So I am wondering if this might actually be her, and if so, what happened to her parents (died in Cass Co. sometime between 1845 & 1850??) and who are the Barnetts?Later on, Nancy J. (Hendren) Johnston gives birth in Cass Co. to at least 5 of her children that show up in the 1880 Census (Cedar Co.).I have the last 2 children in that census as being born in Cedar Co., MO.
Any information about these families would be great!
Thanks,
Kathy
