You will probably have a hard time on this one.Onslow was formed from several original counties, most of which lost their wills through disaster over the years. It mentions that part of it was in Bladen at one time.We know that the Gov. Gabriel Johnston family lived in and around Bladen.
Benjamin would be a couple of generations down from Gabriel and Gilbert, Samuel, etc. There was a Benjamin there, however.
I can't find my James, Jr., either. The name that is evidently too common to research, but definitely in this family (or these families) is John Johnston.James named his first son, John, which may indicate that his father was a John Johnston, born probably around 1740. Some of his relatives lived in Northampton Co.
I didn't find a name spelled Hearn in the Indexes. There were a couple spelled Hern, however. No relation to the Johnstons shown. My James, was closely connected with Francis and Ferebe (Ferriby) Pugh in Georgia.
We have been having with FamilyTreeDNA by having a Johnson/Johnston database. The men order a test kit, swab their mouths, then send in.The results are numbers which represent the number of times these locations appear on the chromosome (or some such.)I grew up before the days of DNA.
