I'm looking for New Jersey Johns(t)on researchers who can help me out with resources and/or can share data with me.
I have done a laughable amount of research on my New Jersey Johnstons. I found a good site which talked about the colonization of New Jersey and Johnstons/Johnsons are mentioned (two of the original founders of Newark were Johnsons) at: http://www.altlaw.com/edballhttp://www.altlaw.com/edball.
I have 2 ancestors, James Johnston (1752-1838) and John Johnston (1752-ca. 1823), who emigrated from NY/NJ in the US and settled in the Toronto/Niagara area of Ontario in 1797 and 1787. They had been loyalists during the American Revolutionary War.
James and wife Lois had children Henry, John Barnabas, Benjamin, Silas, Thomas, William (1802-1845), Mary, Phoebe, Hannah, and Margaret.
John and wife Fanny had John J. (1779-1851), Hattie, Levi J., William, Mary, Anna, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Temperance.
