I'm trying to find information on a James W. JOHNSON b. Nov 24, 1848 in Emerson, Mo. He died in Oklahoma City in 1914.
He went by the title of Colonel after the 1870s and was a lawyer as Assistant Attorney General in Ill. In 1893 he was a lawyer for a Clyde MATTOX in OKC. I'm interested in how he obtained the title Colonel and anything else about the man. Thank you,
