Florence (Adelaide) JOHNSON later changed to SHANAHAN

I am trying to trace my great aunt born FLORENCE ADELAIDE JOHNSON 31 Aug 1889 at Royal Womens Hospital Carlton Melb Vic. Australia. .and made a Ward of the state in Jan 1892, just before my Nana was born.
.ELLEN SHANAHAN was the last foster parent to my gt aunt FLORENCE JOHNSTON
My FLORENCE was discharged fully in Mrs Ellen Shanahan. She may then have gone by the name of FLORENCE SHANAHAN.
The T was added on the ward register to make her surname JOHNSTON .
She was 13 when she was finally discharged to a (Mrs) Ellen Shanahan of Carlton victoria Australia.
That is the only info I can get from Public Records Office and Department of Human Services.
I would love to know what happened to Florence, as my Nana died never knowing her birth family, and I have only discovered Florence and several other siblings in the last 6 months, after a 120yr old mystery in my mum's family. Thanks for any assistance you can give Jacquie
