Joyce, it has been years since I looked at the Mecklenburg records and from the notes I have in my computer, the only thing I think I know is that there is some relationship between Edward Hawkins or his wife, Winnefred Wells, and Plesant Johnson or his wife, Elizabeth.The deeds by which first Edward and Winnie sell to Plesant and then Plesant sells back to Edward must mean something.
Winnefred Wells father is David Wells.......David's mother is a Baker.No daughter, Elizabeth named in the will of David Wells.

August 25, 1783, Edward Hawkins of Mecklenburg to Pleasant Johnson of Mecklenburg, for diverse good causes and for £40, about 100 acres on North side of redy branch bounded by Tabb’s line (now Patterson’s).Wit: Josiah Daly, William Moore, James (X) Moore.Recorded October 13, 1783, Winnefred Hawkins, wife of the said Edward, CAME INTO COURT…relinquished her right of dower.
June 3, 1784, from Pleasant Johnson of Mecklenburg to Edward Hawkins of Mecklenburg, for divers good causes and for £50 , about 100 acres on the north side of ready Branch, and is the land Pleasant Johnson lately bought of Edward Hawkins, and bounded by Tabb’s line (now Patterson’s).Wit: Churchwell Curtis, John McDaniel, John Motry McDaniel, Edward McDaniel.
