JUNE 18, 1909

The death of Mrs. Margaret Bruns, relict of George Bruns, occurred on Sunday last at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Fred Harmes, of Charlotte township. About three months ago she became afflicted with heart disease, which with complications of dropsy, caused her demise.Margaret Johnson was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, September 7, 1829. In 1852 she was united in marriage with Claus Drilling, with whom she came to America in 1872, locating first at Springfield, Ill., and later moving to Owego township, Livingston county, from there to Charlotte township, where Mr. Drilling died in 1874, leaving his wife with three children and two step-children. In 1875 she married George Bruns, with whom she lived in Charlotte township, Danforth, Gilman and Chatsworth. Mr. Bruns' death occurred in this city something over a year ago, since which time Mrs. Bruns has lived with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harmes.
Mrs. Bruns was a charter member of the Charlotte Evangelical church, where the funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, being conducted by Revs. M. Gronewald and E. Vaubel, of this city, and Rev. F.F. Jordan, presiding elder of this district. The interment was at the Chatsworth cemetery.
The surviving children are Mrs. Fred Harms and Banjamin Drilling. Seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive her.

Note: Notice that the name of the daughter is spelled two ways. The correct spelling is more than likely Harms.
