Johnsons in Campbell and Botetourt Co., VA-early-1800s

There was a Mary "Polly" Johnson who married a James Davidson/Davison in Campbell Co., VA in 1812. That Polly Johnson was the daughter of a James Johnson, per the marriage bond. On 10 Jan 1803, an older relative of James Davidson/Davison named Thomas Davidson/Davison was listed as the father of a Jane/Jinny Davidson who married Solomon Snider in Botetourt Co., VA....and a Samuel Johnson was the bondsman, per the marriage bond.

Does anyone know if the James Johnson in Campbell Co., VA in the early-1800s was from the same overall Johnson family as the Samuel Johnson who was in Botetourt Co., VA around the same time? Thomas Davidson/Davison had apparently come into Botetourt from the Campbell Co., VA area around 1800 or so, and he appeared on the 1810, 1820 and 1830 censuses in Botetourt.

We do not know who the first wife (and mother of his children) of Thomas Davidson/Davison was (could she have been a Miss Johnson?), but his second wife was the widow Mrs. Betsy Hagans. Thomas Davidson/Davison was a member of a Davidson/Davison family that had migrated to Bedford Co., VA (the part that became Campbell Co., VA in 1782) from PA by the 1770s.
