Elizabeth Alice Johnson Sparks, 89, of 905 Hoback Avenue,
Erwin, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Center On
Aging and Health, Erwin, Unicoi Co TN.
She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County, and a
daughter of the late Sherman 'Hank' and Alice Britt
Johnson.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, the 'Faith
Team' and a former Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Sparks was
a member of the Erwin Eastern Star and enjoyed flower
gardening. She retired from Siemens Corporation in August
of 1998.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, Everett Sparks, on September 11, 1985; three
brothers, Robert Johnson, Lee Johnson, and Harley Johnson;
a sister, Dorothy Johnson; and a daughter-in-law, Linda
Hamlett Sparks.
She is survived by one son, Fred Sparks, of Erwin, TN; one
daughter, Gail Clark and husband Doug, of Erwin, TN;
sisters and sisters-in-law that she loved dearly, Martha
Hartsell, Ramona Gouge, Doris Johnson, and Kate Lawing,
all of Erwin, TN; one granddaughter, Julie Clark Bowen and
husband Todd, of Smyrna, GA; two great grandchildren, Jack
Douglas and Scarlett Elizabeth; and several nieces and
nephews.
The family would like to thank the Center On Aging and
Health and Hospice, who gave her excellent care, and a
special thank you to her church family at Calvary Baptist.
She served her Lord with gladness and has gone home to be
with Jesus, her Savior.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time
of the service Thursday, at the church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday,
March 11, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church in Erwin, with
Reverend David Crutchfield and Reverend John Kuhne
officiating. Music will provided by Ginger Dalton, Janna
Crutchfield, and Gary Amos. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Committal will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 12, 2010, at
Evergreen Cemetery. Ministers, friends, family, and
pallbearers are requested to meet at the cemetery by
10:50 a.m., Friday, for the committal service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to
Calvary Baptist Church, 540 Adams Street, Erwin, TN 37650.
