It is more likely you will find people who are experienced in Swedish genealogy by posting on the Sweden forum. Type Sweden into the "Jump to Forum" space at the top right of this page. Also, that forum is more likely to have people who own or have access to various databases and subscription sites for Swedish research. There is no point using the Emihamn database (Swedish port departures) without specific information, such as where he was living when he emigrated and when he emigrated, etc. (Not all Swedes left through a Swedish port. Those from Gävleborg might have left through Norway, for example, although of course some left from Sweden.) Where specifically did he end up after emigrating? He is not on Emibas (parish departures; about 75% complete) leaving from any parish with the information you provided. He is not on the 1890 Swedish Census CD with the parents (Anders and Maria --Andrew and Mary are not Swedish names.) The parish you have for his birth parish was part of Söderala parish at that time. I found that information on the Family History Library online catalog. "Contains church records from Bergvik parish. Until 1914 part of Söderala parish. For earlier years, see Söderala. (The numbers within parentheses refer to SVAR's fiche number)." I can't find his birth in Söderala parish on the date you provided. (I'm using scans of the birth records found on the fee-based Genline site.) What is the source of the information about his birthdate and also what is the source of the Bergvik information. There are a lot of locations in Sweden which have a Bergvik. Are you sure your Bergvik is in Gävleborg? Again, remember that Bergvik wasn't a parish until 1914.
