Land grant to Jacob Johns, SC 1797 STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting: Know ye, that in pursuance of an Act of the Legislature entitled "An Act for establishing the mode of granting the lands now vacant in this State, and for allowing an accumulation to be received for some lands that have been granted", passed the 19th day of February 1791, We have granted and by these presents do grant unto Jacob Johns his heirs and assigns, a plantation or tract of land containing three hundred & forty six acres surveyed for him the 28th day of January 1797, situate in the District of Charleston in the fork of Saltchatcher (sic), on the waters of Cross Swamp, bounding to the Eastward partly on land granted to John Mitchell and partly on land granted to Andrew Deaveaux now Jacob Johns land, all other sides by vacant land, Having such shape, form and marks as are represented by a plat hereunto annexed, together with all woods, trees, waters, water-courses, profits, commodities, appurtenances and hereditaments whatsoever thereunto belonging, to have and to hold the said tract of three hundred and forty six acres of land, and all and singular other premises hereby granted unto the said Jacob Johns his heirs and assigns forever, in free and common usage. Given under the great seal of the state, Witness his excellency Charles Pinckney Esquire, Governor and Commandeer in Chief in and over the said State, at Charleston, this fifth day of June Anno Domini, one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven.
