Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Be sure to post on the Sweden forum! Type Sweden into the "Jump to Forum" space at the top right of this page.

GID stands for Genline Identification Number. The GID number is a specific page on the Genline site. Genline has scans of the original Swedish parish records online. Genline is a fee-based subscription service.

The vast majority of people who use the Sweden forum do not have fluency in Swedish. Many of those knew no Swedish at all when they started but since the records are easy to use (There are guidebooks, and the same words are repeated constantly.), they quickly learn the Swedish words for born, married, died, moved in, moved out, and some other important words. You can get along quite well in Swedish research with a handful (or two) of basic Swedish genealogical words. If you have problems with the records, post the GID number on the SWEDEN FORUM and there are people who also subscribe to Genline who will be willing to try to help you.

You have plenty of information. Post it on the Sweden forum.

Judy
