Offering and seeking more information regarding:
Sven Johanssen, my paternal GGF. I am told his name was changed to "Johnson" when he was hastily processed through Ellis Island. That was sometime before 1899, the year my paternal grandfather, Theodore (NMN) Johnson was born in Philadelphia, PA.
Sven (aka "Sam") was married to Mary Anderson who was born in Sweden (Gottland Island?).
Teddy Johnson married Sophie Olga Menzel on Sep 3, 1921. He served in the Army(?)in WWI. He was an Operating Engineer in the Tri-state area (NY/NJ/PA) and belonged to IUOE Local 825.
As a young man, he played banjo in the Paul Whiteman Band and toured with the Keith Circuit (Vaudville).
Teddy and Sophie had two children, Robert Theodore (my father) and Dorothy. His two brothers were Howard and Arthur. He lived in Newark, NJ for 35 years. Had relatives in Long Island, and Mineola NY. some with the last name of "Haag".
Would be interested in hearing from anyone that is related to Sven Johannsen or Mary Anderson or Theodore Johnson and can provide additional information on their lineage - in either direction.
