John JOBES b1805 Percy Main, Northumberland married Mary Ann CLENNET in 1826.
Children: Isabella b1827, James 1829, ? b1830, Ann b1834, John b1837, Mary b1839, Robert b1842. I do have extra info on some of these siblings.
John JOBES b1837 in Percy Main married 1858 Isabella PAXTON in Newcastle Tyne. They had 4 children: John Henry 1861-2, Robert 1862 (emigrated in 1880s to South Fork, PA, USA), Hannah b1864 married Thomas MORDUE, and John 1867 married 1893 to Sarah Ann VINTON. All these children were born in Bebside/Cowpen Northumberland.
Isabella remarried to George BUCHAN in 1878 and settled in Gateshead. No death record for John b1837 found.
John and Sarah Ann were my gg grandparents and had several children, second youngest was my g grandfather Thomas Buchan JOBES 1907-1977.
It is possible that John JOBES b1805 was the son of James JUBBS/JOBES and Ann ANDERSON who married in 1804. They had 9 children between 1805 and 1831. John, James, Mary, William, Henry, Ralph, Richard, Thomas and Ann.
However, my grandfather was told that the family were originally tin miners in Cornwall who came up in the 1800s to work in the coal mines. No evidence of this though, and surname as JOBES does not seem to exist in Cornwall in ealy 1800s, but JOB quite common.
I have lots of info on JOBES individuals in 1800s in Northumberland and Durham - from census, birth marriage death indexes, wills etc. Happy to look for any possible connections.
