Dear H- A search of the online Mormon records at www.familysearch.com reveals a "Lewis Jobes", b. 27 July 1797 in Canada, died 16 January 1852 in Plano, Illinois. Spouse listed as "Rebecca Seeley", marriage was 11 November 1817. Rebecca was b. 20 March 1799 in Canada, died 20 July 1882 in Plano, Illinois. A search for "James Jobes" pulls up detailed info also. Information source not listed on website, so I'd consider the above as clues only. I believe you can write to the Mormons for source information in some cases. Interestingly, in my own records I have a miscellaneous record of the 1764 baptism of a Lewis Jobes at the Christ Church in Cranberry, Middlesex Co NJ, son of James and Barsheba Jobes (Stillwell, John E., Historical & Genealogical Miscellany of NY & NJ, in five volumes, publisher not listed). Since Lewis was not a particularly common name for a Jobes back in the 1700's in NJ, maybe this is a clue to a branch closely related to yours (uncles, cousins, grandparents?). Hope that helps! -Doug Notify Administrator about this message?
