Hi...I posted this message in another area on geneaology.com but I thought it might be useful here too:
I know this is kind of a shot in the dark but any information you might have would be greatly appreciated! I was in a "Veterans Thrift Store" in Chula Vista California (a few miles South of downtown San Diego) and I found some framed photos that I thought could be true family treasures. The first one is an 1863 photo of Sarah Barron Jex. It is hand colorized and very charming. The back of the frame has some interesting information hand written on it:
Sarah Baron Jex (1845 -1886) (my comment: don't know if "Baron" is spelled correctly...I see "Barron" referenced on other sites)
Daughter of Timothy Baron and Anna Carleton (181? - 1896)
Wife of Charles Jex (1840 - 1888)
Mother of William Arthur Jex (1876 - 1949) father of Iala Jex Morris (1899 - 1969)
I bought this one and another 1916 companion framed colorized photo of Iala Jex Morris...it says "she was said to strongly resemble her mother, Sarah Baron Jex".
It was sad to see these seemingly family treasure photos at a thrift store so I was compelled to buy them. I'm looking for anyone in the family who would cherish them. I'm not looking to make any money on them...just took it on as an interesting research project.
Can you help figure out how to reunite these treasures with their rightful family?
