Thank you, Bob. I am particularly interested in the mode of education for Hasidic boys and young men in Eastern Europe (especially Poland) before the Shoah.
Before the Hasidim adopted the Yeshiva, with its distinctive structure, how were individual boys and young men of the Shtetel educated in Torah, Talmud and the teachings of the Hasidic masters? Who were the Melamedim that taught them? What was the typical educational background of a Melamed in pre-Shoah Poland? How were the sons of poor Hasidic families educated? Did the family pay for their education or was this funded by the community? (All of this and the remainder of my questions from my first post.)
Any help answering these questions will be greatly appreciated.
