? Seaman - aka Charles William Brown

My ggf was b in Prussia Nov. 1848. According to the 1920 census records, he immigrated in 1857. His name was ? Seaman (maybe Julius, maybe Charles, maybe Carl). I've no idea what happened to his parents, but his granddaughters seemed to think they died on the boat. I can't find ship records online, have no clue what ship they came on. He MAY have been put on an orphan train to WI and taken by someone there. At any rate, he was in Cassville, Grant Co., WI in 1870, living with a William and Mary Lafenberg both of whom were b in Prussia. At least I think that's him. The age fits. He was Charles Brown by that time. As the story goes, when he was old enough to work, he ran away from home and changed his name to Charles William Brown. He was in Greene Co., OH, by 1876 when he married Ada Belle Hendrickson. I'm told if he came from Prussia and his name was Seaman, he was Jewish. Any information on Seamans from Prussia 1850s, or in NY at that time will be SO greatly appreciated!
