Crossett/Crosoff/Krussof family from Belarus, Russia

Hi everyone,

I am doing research for my father-in-law. He is very interested in his ancestry, but I have no clue where to begin.

First, his family moved around alot. They came from Belarus to England, and then to Pittsburgh, PA, and finally ending up in San Diego, CA.

Secondly, the surname spelling changes so much that it makes my head spin.

I would like to know what spellings of this surname I need to be looking for (in Yiddish or Russian).

Also, any info on the following people...

Hyman Krussof b. Belarus, Russia, d. between 1897-1910, m. Hanna

Their children were..
Henry Herbert Crosoff b. 2/23/1892 England d.July 1979 San Diego, CA m. Goldie Mallinger
Sarah Crosoff b. May 1893 England
Rebecca Crosoff b. abt. 1896 England
Nathan Crosoff b. abt. 1897 England m. Stella Biberstein

This family had moved to the United States sometime before 1937 as this is where my father-in-law was born that year.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
