Hi, I'm new to the boards. I have a general interest question about the use of Israel as a middle name. My grandmother, Doris Lynde's first husband's grandfather, was named Alvah Israel Canedy, born 1860. Her son, my uncle, age 93, and I are very curious to know if using Israel as a middle name was/is a Jewish custom. I appreciate your response.
