I wonder if anyone can help me.
I am trying to establish that my deceased father was Jewish, there are a lot of strong indicators that he was but the latest one is the strongest of them all.
I recently wasgiven his birth certificate by my Mother.
where his mothers name is enetred there are two entries one the name I knew her by Doris Pickering and underneath this and underlined in the same column is written Joesphine Breitenstein.
Has anyone seen this sort of thing before on a birth certificate? Why would my grandmother change her first and last name. Why would they eneter both names on the boirth certificate.
I would be very, very grateful for any information on this subject
