Region of central Europe, extending from the northern slopes of the Carpathian Mountains to the Romanian border. Once part of the Austrian Empire, it was included in Poland after World War I and divided in 1945 between Poland and the USSR.*******people caled Galicianas who lived there(not considered to be flaterring by russain jews)yenta tales of thievery/slyness /cunning etc
