The Eldridge st synog. 1887 on ny's lower east side has been converted into a museum.It is noted for its beautiful Moorish architecture,stained glass windows and famous worshippers like Jonas Salk and artist Ben Shahn.
The restored bldg has a 70fthigh ceiling with sunlight shining though the skylight and "jewel -colored windows."
"The synagogue is once more a beacon-to memory and history,arts,and culture" with exhibits,klezmer concerts and literary groups.
