There might be a liberal local rabbi I could question but I would hesitate to take up his time with a query about only "possible" Ashkenazic-Levite heritage. Perhaps someone online, as you mentioned? Will have to look into it. Yes, it was a male cousin of mine who took the Y-DNA test. We are only distantly related, actually, but my own grandfather was his great-great-grandfather so that should not make a difference at all. My mother and his great-grandfather were only half-siblings but had the same father so my cousin and I still descend from the same male line.
