This info came to me from Richard Jeter who has an out of print book called "The Jeter Mosaic". It list John Jeter(possibly the first Jetr in America), b. abt 1686 in Suffolk, Eng. marrying Elizabeth(this book list her maiden name by family tradition, and other websites listing it as fact, as Vaughan) b. abt 1686 in Layslotle(???), Eng.They settled in the area of Amelia Co., VA.one of their sons, Thomas, produced a son named Henry and a daughter named Lucy. Lucy, b. abt 1755, married James Vaughan. b. abt 1740, and they had two children, Matilda, b. abt 1785, and Milton, b. abt 1786. Henry Jeter produced a son named Sovereign, b. abt 1777, who married in 1806, Matilda Vaughn. One of their sons, James Milton Jeter, b. 01-27-1809, is my ggggrandfather. I haven't tried to do any reasearch on the Vaughan lines, but there was evidently some intermarriage between these families. I don/t know where Orange Co. is in relation to Amelia or Carolina Co. If you contact Richard Jeter, he may be able to check the book for other Vaughan connections. I think his e-mail is still, [email protected]
