I don't know if they were the first Jesses in Texas but James M.C. (Mac) Jessee and his family are reported to have moved from Va. to Nacona in Montague Co. TX about 1871 following his shady financial dealings which nearly bankrupted his father Jefferson Jessee. They were certainly in Texas in 1880 when one of his sons, Floyd Jessee married that year. Floyd was my husband's grandfather. James had 10 children and most of them came to Montague county with him. Floyd's family moved to OK in the late 1890's, but I'd be surprised if there aren't a lot of those Jessee descendants still living in that area and other parts of Texas as well.
