Boy, this gets confusing! Especially as the families kept giving their kids the other surname as middle names!
I see a William Jessee (b. 1779??) married to Mary ("Polly") Vermillion and producing a number of children including Elizabeth Vermillion Jessee (b. 1817), Robert Jessee (b. 1813), and possibly Susan Jessee. But who were William Jessee's parents?
My great x 5 grandfather was Robert F. Vermillion (b. 1725), son of Giles -- and one of Robert's brothers was William Vermillion -- also listed as "Jessee William" Vermillion and "William Jessee" Vermillion (Sr.)(b. 1723 MD). This William fathered a William Jessee Vermillion (Jr.)-- who proceeded to name his daughter Mary Jessee Vermillion. And William Jr's sister Elizabeth married a "Jesse" ("Jessee"?) Browning -- who passed the name on to his son Jessee Browning Jr.
Who was the first Mr. Jessee in those parts? Must have been a popular guy:)
