Hi Allen, Joseph Jess was my great-grandfather. He was born in Drumlough Down Ireland in approx. 1855. He went to Nova Scotia briefly, then through Ellis Island to USA in 1870's, met and married Rachel Close (also from Belfast) in 1876. They lived in Albany, NY and later moved to Schenectady, where they are both buried. They had 9 children. I have lots of info, some going back through Ireland and from Devonshire England in the 1500's. However, My Jess family did not spell the name Jesse after they left england in the 1600's. Are you sure it is the same family? Let me know. Will be happy to hear from you. Where are you located and how do you fit into the Jess family? perhaps we are cousins??
