"DIED on Thursday morning the 22d of April, at the residence of her father Mr. James Sullivan, in Woodford county, Mrs. MARTHA ANN JESSE, wife of John B. Jesse, of a painful pulmonary complaint, in the 23rd year of her age. She embraced religion at an early age and joined the Baptist Church. She left this world in the joyful hope of a triumphant resurrection, and has given to her bereaved friends the consoling reflection of her having performed in the most exemplary manner, the duties of daughter, sister, wife and friend.
Go sainted Martha to thy home,
Thy Savior smiles and bids thee come,
To purer joys on high;
Thy friends with anguish saw thy pain;
But their sad loss is now thy gain,
Thou never more wilt sigh."
