By census, Joseph JESS, born ca. 1720, was Irish Protestant, came to the colony of Rhode Island from Belfast ca. 1742; married in 1744; bought two parcels of land 1746 and sold them in 1760.From Rhode Island he came with other New England Planters and settled on land from a Crown grant in Falmouth Township (1760) in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia; died in Lakelands, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia in 1792.
I am trying to find a connection between the Jess families of Scotland and Northern Ireland.I understand that about 150 Jess names are listed in today's telephone directory in Northern Ireland.
Where may these Jess families have their roots?
