My ancestor, William Gerrard, b. 1731 in Lancashire, married in 1754 Ann Huxford of Plancentia Bay, Newfoundland. They settled on Gerard Island, Nova Scotia where he died in 1789. It is reported that the Gerrards/Jerretts and Huxfords were among the early fishery families of Newfoundland, but I cannot find any such reference. Does anyone have any such information of can you steer me in the right direction?
