In the 1840 census for Columbus County, NC, Stephen Jernigan is listed as the head of a household. Living with him is 84 year old Benjamin Sasser. Does anyone know of a connection between those two men? It is interesting that Benjamin wasn't living with his son, Frederick, who was also living in Columbus County in the 1840 census.
Any information would be appreciated!
