The Forbes-Jerkins line has evidently not gone beyond Zachariah Jerkins born in Leon Co to Eliza Jane Forbes Mills Jerkins and Zechariah Jerkins. I have found no offspring of their son Zachariah Holland Jerkins b. 1854, Leon Co, FL. Wesley B. Mills, son of Eliza Jane Forbes and Thomas Mills died in the Civil War in 1862. Prior to his move to Alabama in 1856, he shared custody of Zachariah Jerkins with their uncle Enoch H. Forbes. Zachariah Jerkins was last documented in Wakulla Co, FL, in the 1870 Wakulla Co, FL, census. I have researched exhaustively in Leon and Wakulla Counties in Florda and have been unable to locate Zachariah. I have not found him in any other state.
I have researched the Mills' ancestry back to Screven Co, GA, in the 1760's and the Forbes' ancstry back to Pitt, Co, NC, in 1710. Eliza Jane Forbes Mills' marriage to Zachariah Jerkins, her father's overseer, appears to be the first and last contact between Forbes and Jerkins.
