I want to identify the parents and siblings of Julia Judkins or Jerkins (b. 4 August 1804 in MA-d.11 October 1866 in NC), who married (14 April 1828) Howard Wiswall (b. 18 February 1791 in Pittsfield, MA-d. 19 January 1881 in Washington, NC) of Beaufort County, Washington, NC.
According to the 1850 federal census for Beaufort County, Washington, NC, Julia Wiswall was born in MA. In Some Colonial and Revolutionary Families of North Carolina (vol. 1, 1964, ), author Marilu Burch Smallwood gives Julia’s maiden surname as both Judkins (the D. A. R lineage paper of Mrs. Josephine Bowen Buckman of Washington, NC, ) and Jerkins (the Bowen-Wiswall family Bible). Smallwood also gives the exact birth and death dates of Julia Judkins /Jerkins Wiswall.
In that 1850 federal census entry, which is for a hotel Howard Wiswell ran in Washington, appears an entry, immediately after the listing of the Wiswall family members, for Eliza Deen (age 40, born in MA). I strongly suspect Eliza Deen (b. circa 1810 in MA) may be the younger sister of Julia Judkins / Jerkins Wiswall.
       I’ll gladly supply additional information.
       Thank you.

Sincerely,

John S. Patterson
