As thefamily story goes there was a John Daniel Jerkins that worked for and was adopted more or less by my grandparents James William Stevenson b 1829 AL and (Betty) Elizabeth Baker Stevensonb ca 1830 MS (Child of Dr. James S Baker andCemantha R Simpson ).. James William and Betty lived in Rankin CO, MS.. James Williamjoined Civil War and served 1 month and 26 days and was killed.Supposely so John Daniel could claim a part of the property etc. Betty married20 May, 1872 Rankin CO, MS John Daniel even though she was 24 years older than him....Census Rankin CO, MS1880 Jno. Jerkins, age 26, Bettie age 50, C.J. age 7 - daughter...John Daniel Jerkins 1854-1931 is buried at Holly Bush Cemetery in Rankin CO, MS beside Dollie W. Jerkins 1875-1914...Probably Betty is buried there also in an unmarked grave. There are no other Jerkins buried there.Would like any info on the Steveson's , Baker's, or children of John Daniel and Betty....I have children listed from my brother do not know where the info came from - Betty, John, Sally, Leona, Jim, Emma, Velma, & Lewis...Lynda
