JEPSON - Sheffield Flood 1864
Hi
I am researching the Sheffield Flood (12th March 1864) and am trying to locate the graves of as many of the victims as possible, with a view to then further researching their family line.
Four members of the JEPSON family from Malin Bridge died and they were recorded as George (age 70), George (age 68), Isabella (27) and an unnamed child of 11 months. However, a report in a newspaper in 1864 recorded that Joseph, his wife, daughter-in-law and grand child died. Following research I have since carried out, I believe it was Joseph that died (not George) and that his wife’s initials were MA (possibly Mary Lingard??).
The bodies of Joseph and his wife were never found and Isabella and the child are just recorded as being buried in Sheffield (I have not yet managed to find the exact location.)
I would love to hear from anyone who thinks they may be related. I would also be happy to receive any info on the JEPSON family – I will keep this on file and let you know if I ever manage to find a connection.
Look forward to hearing from you and thanks in anticipation of your reply.
Best Regards
