Thank you for posting this information. I have recently started the research into my ancestry and expect to have trouble on my mother's side. This info will surely be helpful.

I don't know if this will mean anything to you, as I haven't yet looked into it. Nor do I know how many Jepsens there are/were in this area. Anyway, my great-great-grandfather is Jacob Nicholas Jepsen and is from Schleswig Holstein, Denmark. He was borno in November of 1850 My grandfather gave me a sheet that listed Jacob's birthplace as Tonder, Schleswig Holstem, Denmark. I assume Holstem is a typo that nobody ever realized was wrong. I am not sure what/where Tondern(?) is.

If this name sounds familiar to you (maybe it is a brother or cousin, etc) let me know and I will share what I have with you.
