Hello Aleeta:
I believe my line might be in common with the Jents you are inquiring about if we go way back in time to a Thomas Gent who died in Charles Co., VA in 1689. Therefore I have been interested in the Jents of Wake Co., NC and have collected some scant information on them from descendants of these Wake Co., NC Jents/Gents who later moved to Tennessee, Kentucky and other states in the early 1800s.
The first comes from Woody Woodward
Thomas Jent born 1745-1750 married E. (rest of name not shown) and they had Dicey (or Dica) born ca. 1798 and died before 15 Aug 1866 in Newton Co., MO. She married William Roark, Jr. born ca. 1798 in Sumner Co., TN and who died Dec 1858 in Newton Co., MO. They married ca. 1819.
The next comes from
Roark, Jr, with the same information about them as above. In this same listing, John Jent born before 1784 had a son named Thomas who married Elizabeth Driver. They had a daughter named Dicey who married Frank Holland.
In my opinion, it appears that the second version is the more probable one. In the first version, Dicey is listed as the oldest of the children of Thomas born more than 8 years after the next oldest child, Winnifred, and 27 years after the oldest child, Elizabeth, born 1771. In this version, Thomas Jent had a son named John Jent, born 1772-1773 which is proabbly correct. Further, Thomas Jent in the first version, would have been 48-53 years old when Dicey was born. I beleive Dicey does not belong in the family of Thomas but to his son, John.
