Brad- According to the Jennings Book, William was not the son of a Robert Jennings but was supposedly the fourth son of Sir Humphrey Jennings and his wife Mary Milward and was born in Warwickshire , England ca 1676. He ran away from home at about age 16 and joined the British Navy. He became a captain and settled in VA early 18th century, marrying Mary Jane Pulliam in Jan, 1724.

I think that the Robert Jennings of Nottoway was a completely different line. You might go to message 6284 in this Forum and then the "follow-ups" that go with that message for more info on that. Our William only lived in Nottoway Co. for a short while before his death, having been first in Hanover and then that part of Amelia Co.(Nottoway Parish)that became Nottoway Co. He first appeared in Hanover records in 1729 witnessing a deed involving Patterson Pulliam whom it is assumed was realted to his wife Mary Jane Pulliam.
