Joseph Jenkins born in NC in late 1700's

Does any one have any info on Joseph Jenkins born in North Carolina? According to the 1850 through the 1880 censuses, his date of birth varies between 1785-1797. I am not positive but I think he may have been from Surrey County, NC. In 1850, he was in Alexander County, NC. After 1860, he was in Caldwell County, NC. He married a woman named Anna. He had a son named Nicholas and a daughter Jane. There were other Jenkins located near him who may have been his sons named William Davis and S. D. Any info would be appreciated.
