Daisy M. Jenkins was my greatgrandmother. She was married to Claude Wibur Jenkins, the 3rd son of Edwin Alonzo & Margaret C.(Smith)Jenkins.C.W. & Daisy Jenkins lived next door to us in Gurdon, AR & had lived in Whelen Springs prior to that. Daisy was an adopted child to Margret McGinnis, who was C.W.'s cousin.
She was originally named Alfa Hays. Her birth mother, (named Mary Jane Davis I think), died very soon after delivering her baby brother, who soon died also. Her father had been a sharecropper on the McGinnis farm & had left before the baby's birth to return to MO on some business, but never returned. Daisy was about 7 years old when this happened & was adopted by Mrs. McGinnis.
I tried to find a McGinnis in the 1880 U.S.Census for Clark County, AR, but got no hits on that spelling.I did find a Margret McGennis in that census for Clark County, AR.
I would appreciate any information that you might have regarding The McGinnises &/or the brothers of C.W. Jenkins or the Jenkins genealogy.TIA
Jerry
