John Jenkins, died 1760's in Bertie Co., North Carolina
I am seeking information about my ancestor, John Jenkins, of Bertie County, North Carolina. I am not sure of his birthdate, possibly around 1695 in Virginia, maybe Nansemond County. He is supposed to be a grandson of Governor John Jenkins of N.C., either through the Governor's son, John, or another son, Henry. I have seen researchers have John of Bertie County with both John and Henry as fathers. John married Anne ?, but don't have a marriage date. John and Anne's eight children were all born by 1744. These children were: James, married Mary Cherry, died in 1796 in Bertie; Elizabeth; Casia/Keziah, married to Samuel Howard, died about 1768; Mary; John (my ancestor), supposedly first married to Mary Barnes, and then secondly to Mary Willoughby of Hickory Chapel, Hertford County, North Carolina. ( I haven't seen proof of this), died in 1779 in Bertie Co.; Anna; Cader, married Elizabeth, died about 1800; Lewis, married Anne Jones. Any assistance on this family will be appreciated.
