C.G. Heath, after whom the bend is name, was his son-in-law. He bought the Holloway farm when the family moved to Cal during the Gold rush.”

In 1848, he married Miss Louisa, d/o Rev. Jones & Margaret Heath, at the home of their parents, west of Warsaw. In 1860, they went to San Francisco with their family & have lived most of the time since in Sonoma & Mendocino counties.”

42 c Bridge wrecked, Calloway
“The Heath suspension bridge crossing the Osage 2 mi west of Warsaw, was greatly damaged by high winds in Mar of 1932…built in 1908 by the Benton Co Court through subscriptions…It was named after Calloway Heath, one of the heavy contributors to the fund…previous…travelers crossed the Osage near this point by ferry.
67 g Mr.
“Recollections of Elder J.M. Wise of Buffalo, MO – In 1867, my parents moved from IL to Quincy &, later, to Lincoln [MO]. We bought Mr. Heath’s crop & rented his farm, a mile and a half NW of Lincoln, near Uncle Harry Mitchell’s place…When we went to the Heath place, there were lots of prairie chickens. Very often, hundreds of them in a flock would fly up & the noise sounded like thunder. There were also many deer & I liked to hunt them. I also shot a Rocky Mountain lynx, which could be very dangerous when wounded.

Hope this of interest.
All but one reference to the Jenkins families living in Benton Co were to a family that came from KY not mine.
Most of the people discussed were from families who were still living there, who had photos & stories.
In the marriage records, I did find the name of the J.P. who married my great grandfather.
Cheers,
Chuck Walthall
