S.D. Jenkins married Nancy W. Payne (one of my gg-aunts) while the Jenkins family was living in Alexander Co. They followed the family to Caldwell County, NC I know S.D. and Nancy had children: Susan, 1844;Amanda, 1846;,Martha,1847;Mary,185o;Hiram, 1852(moved back to Va in young adulthood)and finally Adeline. I know part of their family is buried at Lower Creek Cemetery in Hudson, NC. Also S.D was in the civil 23rd Infantry, company G. I can not find details of his death. Nancy remarried in 1869 to Marchison Gipson, a widower with several children. Some of the siblings of S.D. stayed in Alexander County and many are still in this area now.
