Charles, it looks as though fate has brought us together again. My great-great-great-great grandfather was William Jenkins, born in 1786 in Halifax, Va.He was a shoemaker.he enlisted in the army in 1814 and in 1815, he was assigned to Capt. Dufphey's Company. He died in Oct of 1815, but apparently his widow received received his pension and his heirs his land in Arkansas from his military land grant for services in War of 1812.The land was not far fromHot Springs, Ar and is probably the site where his son, Thomas Jenkins, founded Jenkins Ferry, which is now a State Park and the site of the Battle of Jenkin's Ferry from the Civil War era. figure he mest have been the son of either John or Robert Jenkins. Thomas named his first son, John. i guess you are the same Charles I corresponded with concerning the Walthall baby photos and Bible.
