The book is called "Mary Jemison: Indian Captive" and tells the story of her life from just prior to being taken by the raiding party, to being given the mocasins (being chosen to remain with the party and taken to the tribe) and seeing her mother's scalp. It also includes her marriage, children (one of whom tried to "sell" her back to the whites for liquor)and information on her life up to the time of her death. There is a beautiful drawing of the statue at the end of the book.
I am looking for information on her Indian descendants because two of my ancestors share the same names as were listed among her children and grandchildren.
