Dear Richard
I had a great aunt named May Jellett who would have been born in London around 1890. She died probably in the 1960s. I remember visiting her when I was about 5 or 6 years old. She had 3 brothers to my knowledge, Leslie, George and Wallace. My parents are first cousins (all sanctioned by the church, and civil law, etc.!) and Leslie and George are my two grandfathers. Incidentally, George and Wallace married two sisters but no more in-breeding resulted from those unions.
George died in 1953 and Leslie in 1969. I seem to remember they claim that their father was from a wealthy family of Jelletts in the Tunbridge Wells area and that he was ostricised by the family when he married the daughter of a gypsy family by name of Bull. There is a place close to Tunbrdige called Bull's Hollow.
Looking forward to checking out the 1901 census when it becomes available.
Regards
Allan
