Hi Nora
I'm doing a little of genealogy research myself. I believe my great great grandfather was Nicholas Yahl. He was married to Teresa and they had several children including my great grandmother Mary. In 1969 (I believe) a Yahl relative of my mother published a family tree and short history of the Nicholas Yahl family. In the short history there are references to Philip but I don't remember any mention of Michael. I do know that they came from France but have no idea why they changed the spelling of their last name. Don't know if this will be of any help to you.
