Cumberland County, Virginia Deed Book 3 [Transcribed by William Lee Gay] Page 445 Winfree To Jefferson This Indenture made the thirteenth day of January one thousand seven hundred & sixty four Between Jacob Winfree Junr. of Cumberland County of the one part & John Jefferson of Lunenburg of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Jacob Winfree Junr. for & in consideration of the Sum of forty five Pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid before the ensealing & delivery of these presents by the said John Jefferson the receipt whereof the said Jacob Winfree doth hereby acknowledge & thereof of every part thereof doth requite Exonerate & discharge the said John Jefferson his heirs Executors & administrators or assigns & every of them by these Presents hath granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth bargain sell & deliver unto the said John Jefferson a Tract or Parcel of Land lying & being in the County of Cumberland containing by Estimation Sixty four acres be the same more or less & bound as follows. To wit: Beginning at James Cunninghams corner Willer Oak on Jacob Michaux Line & Running thence on the said Michaux line North eighty Degrees West on hundred & fifty one Poles to Pointers thence on Thomas Bassetts line North forty five Degrees East one hundred & sixty two Poles to Pointers in Cunninghams line thence on the said line South thirteen Degrees East one hundred & forty nine Poles to the first Station With all & singular the Rights Members & Appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining or Excepted [reputed] deem’d or taken as Part Parcel or Member thereof. To have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land or Plantation & Premises with every of the appurtenances and every Part & Parcel thereof & the Reversion & Reversions Remainder & Remainders thereof unto the said John Jefferson his Heirs & Assigns forever. To the only proper life & behoof of him the said John Jefferson to him and his Heirs forever And the said Jacob Winfree for himself his Heirs he doth covenant grant & agree to & with the said John Jefferson his Heirs Executors Admrs. & Assigns the he the said Jacob Winfree & his Heirs &c will forever warrant & defend the said Land will and & every appurtenances there unto belonging against him the said Jacob Winfree his Heirs Executors & Admrs. and against [unreadable three or four words] whatsoever that shall make any Claim Title or Interest {unreadable word] unto the said John Jefferson his Heirs Executors & Admrs. forever [two unreadable words] my hand & Seal the day and year above written.
