I wanted to see if any of you had information about the Capt. Ramsey who delivered Polly Jefferson and Sally Hemings to the London residence of John and Abigail Adams in 1787. My great-grandfather was Capt. William Ramsey, said to be a friend and neighbor of George Washington. He was with him at Yorktown. I have heard recently---this is not verified---that William Ramsey and his brother served as bodyguards for Washington. I was wondering if William might have been the Capt. Ramsey who escorted Polly and Sally on their voyage to Europe. I would appreciate any information any of you might have about Polly's voyage and the Capt. Ramsey who escorted her. Bob
